Tourist numbers surged more than half in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture on National Day compared to last year, official statistics show.
The prefecture welcomed 230,000 tourists on the day, 57.90 percent more than last year. More than 140 million yuan ($20.99 million) was generated across various tourism sites in the prefecture.
Some tourists visiting Qianxinan were attracted by its mountain tourism activities and landscapes. "I've heard about the unique landform Qianxinan before and this time I visited Wanfeng forest and Malinghe gorge," said Mr Bai, a tourist from Henan province.
The province launched 28 projects in April to support its tourism industry in the Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, with 14.80 billion yuan ($2.22 billion) coming from the government coffers. The projects vary in scope and include the transportation and leisure industries.
