Lu Yongzheng, deputy director of Guizhou province, pointed out during a conference that the province has heavily promoted its tourism industry in recent years.
Statistics show it received 257 million visitors in the first half of this year, accounting for an increase of 39.20 percent compared to the same period last year and generating 224.14 billion yuan ($33.61 billion).
The census aims to form a comprehensive review of Guizhou’s tourism resources. Now that the data has been collected, the province will work on managing its tourism resources better and attracting investment to the tourism industry.
According to the census, a little over 60 percent of tourism resources have not been development, leaving much room for growth in the industry.
