Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province launched a week of activities to raise awareness of cybersecurity issues on Sept 19.
Cybersecurity has been a major focus of Chinese government policy in 2016, particularly following President Xi Jinping’s appearance at a cybersecurity symposium in April where he urged local governments, companies, social organizations and netizens to do more to promote cybersecurity best practice.
The week of activities in Guiyang is designed to publicize various different issues associated with cybersecurity, including those affecting the financial, legal, education and telecommunications industries.
Xie Nian, deputy publicity director of Guizhou province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
