The 9th ASEAN-China Week of Educational Exchange is underway in Guiyang until Aug 7.
The event, which launched on Monday, marks the 13th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-China strategic partner relationships. This year is designated as the “ASEAN-China Year of Educational Exchange”.
More than 30 programs will feature throughout the week, including the 2nd Round-table Conference between ASEAN and China Ministers of Education, a cultural exchange between China India and a Vocational Education Expo. A selection of programs will be made available to the public to provide information on education, science and technology, and overseas study.
As part of the ASEAN-China Year of Educational Exchange, approximately 40 education-related programs will also be launched at the event and held throughout the year in China, Cambodia, Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.
Statistics show that the number of educational exchanges between China and ASEAN countries has been increasing in recent years. The number of ASEAN students studying in China has risen from 49,580 in 2010 to 71,101 in 2015. Approximately 40,000 Chinese students studied in ASEAN countries in 2015, a marked increase compared to 16,947 in 2010.
