After investigating over 10,000 spots in Guizhou province, the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration and Development has identified 4,574 new places as tourism resources.
The newly-found tourism spots include canyons, rivers and fishing areas in Qianxi county, acres of lotus flowers in Tianzhu county and fossilized footprints in Congjiang county.
According to Fu Guilin, director of the bureau, more than 1,200 officials have taken part in the investigation since April.
“The investigated places cover landscapes, architecture, villages and historical sites. Many of them are unique little-known tourism resources and some rare pictures will be released for the first time,” said Fu.
The investigation work will continue until December and more than 100,000 officials will take part in it. The newly-found spots will require further evaluation by experts.
