More than 220 celebrities from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan are expected to attend the Cross Straits Green Forum to be held in Guiyang on July 9. The forum is part of the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference which will take place from July 8 to 10.
The forum’s theme is “Promote Cross-Strait Green Industries Cooperation, Increase People’s Wellbeing”. Celebrities scheduled to attend are from media, academia, government and industry, and include Chen Deming, president of the Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits, and Yu Muming, chairman of Taiwan's New Party.
Topics to be discussed at the forum cover the integration of the mainland’s heavy industries with Taiwan’s flexible management mode, and cross-Straits’ cooperation in green technologies with consideration given to balanced economic development, the environment, society and energy.
According to Yang Yuxia from the Guizhou Provincial Offices of Taiwan Affairs, there are cooperation potentials for the two sides across the Straits in wind and solar power. The forum is designed to be an exchange platform to increase cooperation in green industries across the Straits and lay foundations for the construction of eco-civilization.
