The fast-paced, bare-knuckled, whitewater excitement is set to go roaring downstream once more as the Guyelang Rafting Scenic Zone in Guizhou province, is set to open on May 1, after the completion of extensive upgrades.
The rafting area is located in Tongzi county in Zunyi city, and winds its way for 7.5 kilometers through the valley, surrounded by steep cliffs, as canoeists cling on for dear life through more than 20 whitewater rapids and catch their breath on the serene deep pools in between.
The journey starts from Jinbao Mountain, takes 3 to 4 hours, and ends up at Luban Valley.
The Guyelang Rafting Scenic Zone is 40 minutes' drive from the Tongzi county town and has a capacity of 4,000 visitors per day. The hotels in the scenic zone can accommodate 500 to 600 people. Tickets are available at 160 yuan ($24.60) per person.
