The Gui'an Eco-Civilization Innovation Park, in Guizhou province, had its opening on June 26, as China's first park of its kind, to set an example of a "sponge city" with an advanced design for handling rainfall and sewage with better water absorption and purification.
The park got support from the UK's Building Research Establishment, a nonprofit organization and took only 136 days from design to Phase 1 completion while applying a City Information Modeling system and technological integration at more than 20 projects. For management purposes, it can supervise every system via a 4G wireless network and intelligent operations.
In commenting on the project, a special envoy from the UK explained that sustainable design and construction are crucial to an ecological city and green architecture and that he hopes the park and its buildings can increase cooperation by Guizhou and the UK, for sustainable development.
The president of Tsinghua Holdings Human Settlements Construction Group said that his company follows a theory of science and human settlements with support from Tsinghua University, in the city of Beijing, and does its best to provide green, sustainable products and a better environment to contribute to the development of a new-type of urbanization.
