Every December 8, the ethnic Miao people in Danzhai county will dress up and hold a grand worship ceremony.

Chiyou was a tribal leader of the ancient Nine Li tribe. He is best known as the tyrant who fought against the Yellow Emperor during the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors era in Chinese mythology. Ethnic Miao people draw their ancestry from Chiyou.
