Guiyang's logistics sector has grown and has more functions and is playing a more important role in the local economy. Its logistics industry added-value output, for 2012, was more than 13 billion yuan ($2.12 billion), for an increase of 14.5 percent year-on-year and Its logistics revenues were nearly 28.9 billion yuan, an increase of 14.5 percent year-on-year. Total freight volume that year was above 166 million tons, an increase of 19.8 percent year-on-year. Guiyang is headed to become a regional logistics center, in line with the State Council's plans for 2012 and plans to take advantage of the "Southeast logistics passage to the sea" and "the Central
Guizhou Economic Zone" and build two logistics hubs -- the Guizhou Mengguan International Logistics Center and Longdongbao International Aviation Logistics Park -- and three regional logistics parks – Zhazuo Logistics, Qingzhen Logistics, and Jinhua Logistics. It also expects to build some cargo logistics and distribution centers, push the construction of dry ports and bonded zones andl attract famous logistics companies to help develop four major projects in international and regional logistics, urban distribution, and logistics - industry links.
