Railways form an essential part in Guizhou's communication with other provinces. There are five major links starting from the capital city of Guiyang, including the Xiangqian (Changsha-Guiyang) line, Chuanqian (Chongqing-Guiyang) line, Guikun (Guiyang-Kunming) line, Qiangui (Guiyang-Nanning) line and Nankun (Nanning-Kunming) line. Rail lines measure a total length of 1,708 kilometers, among which 80 percent are electric.
Moreover, non-stop express trains starting from Guiyang can reach major cities in the nation, including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Kunming.
There are also sightseeing trains linking Guiyang with major attractions including Liupanshui, Huangguoshu Waterfall, Yuping and Fanjing Mountain.
