The Nanjiang Grand Canyon scenic zone is in the middle of Guizhou, 39 kilometers from Guiyang, and 19 km from Kaiyang county. It was one of "Eight Guiyang Attractions" chosen by authorities and the public, in 2006, and is known as a World Karst Ecology Museum. It has karst formations, waterfalls and interesting ecology, and a number of steep mountainsides on both banks, making the river valley both beautiful and forbidding. It integrates mountains, water, cliffs, forests, peaks, creeks, springs, waterfalls, and trees in a precipitous, beautiful wilderness with all kinds of scenery, possessing aesthetic and scientific value. Its complicated terraces, strange rocks and wonderful ecology give it unique beauty. The vertical height is more than 100 meters and looks like a landscape paintings. Huge rocks have fallen into the river and have been battered by the water for millions of years giving them various shapes and features, and the unique look of limestone. Inside the scenic zone, Buyi, Miao and other ethnic groups live, with their exotic folk customs and cultures, adding a human touch.
