The Ningde section of the Quzhou-Ningde Railway started construction recently, reported pingnan.ccoo.cn.
The railway line, from Quzhou, Zhejiang province to Ningde, Fujian province, will run through Suichang, Longquan and Qingyuan in Zhejiang and Songxi, Zhenghe, Jian'ou, Pingnan, Zhouning and Jiaocheng in Fujian.
It will connect with the Shanghai-Kunming Railway and Jiujiang-Jingdezhen-Quzhou Railway in the north and the deep-water port Sandu'ao Port in the south.
The 379.17-kilometer line is scheduled to be completed within 60 months. The Ningde section will have a length of 100.5 kilometers.
The project's total investment is estimated to top 7.96 billion yuan ($1.25 billion).
After being opened to traffic, the Quzhou-Ningde Railway, with a projected speed of 160 kilometers/hour, will deliver 40 passenger trains a day in each direction and 60 million tons of cargo per year.
The railway will play a significant role in bridging Northeast Fujian and outside areas and will facilitate the development of the West-Straits Economic Zone.
