Pingnan spends 5.6m yuan in heritage preservation

Pingnan spent over 5.6 million yuan ($902,720) protecting the county’s intangible cultural heritage over the past ten years, pingnan.ccoo.cn reported.

This year, the county’s government will spend another 1 million yuan in heritage preservation.

Pingnan’s intangible cultural heritage includes Siping Opera, Siping marionette show, Pingjiang Opera, and local folk songs and dances.

The county boasts four national and nine provincial intangible cultural heritages. One item is on UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
