Pupils offer volunteer service in Pingnan

A special voluntary service was carried out by 30 students from Shuangxi Primary School on Oct 10 in Shuangxi town, Pingnan county, Fujian Province.

The young volunteers were divided into two groups to help clean up the streets and promote environmental protection knowledge among locals. They also donated money to five poor families and to elders living alone.

"I am very proud to take part in the work as a volunteer, which means a lot to me. I cleaned the streets and helped others know better about environment protection," said Zhang Mei, one of the young volunteers.

Shuangxi Primary school started its voluntary service project in 2011 and was honored as a provincial "preeminent volunteer organization" in April 2013. The periodical services include planting flowers, cleaning up streets and promoting fire safety knowledge.
