The Fujian provincial government has issued an outline to promote the development of passenger and freight transport between Fujian province and Taiwan.
The outline has set a goal to build ports in Fujian into the main transportation hub of cross-Straits transportation by the end of 2018.
According to the outline, Fujian will strengthen the development of the RO/RO passenger transport. It will open a new high-speed RO/RO passenger line between Xiamen and Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Fujian is improving the capacity and on-time rate of ship routes between Pingtan and Taiwan. Other cities in Fujian such as Putian, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou and Ningde will also embark on building modernized ports to meet the needs of cross-Straits transport.
Fujian will also raise the service level of the “Mini Three Links,” and will open more night passenger ship routes between Xiamen in Fujian and Kinmen in Taiwan. Two more passenger routes, Huangqi-Matsu and Dongshan-Penghu, will also be opened.
The marine transport business in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilt Zone will also be expanded to the whole province.
In addition, favorable policies to promote cross-Straits cooperation of the cold chain logistics industry have also been laid down in the outline. A public cold chain logistics information platform and an online service platform will also be established.
