"I resigned from my work in a big city in 2012 and went back to my home town to plant mushrooms. I don’t regret my decision since selling mushrooms can earn more money," said He Chenye, a local of Pingnan county.
Mushroom planting is a major source of income for people in villages in Pingnan county. With the support of the county government, the locals made a total revenue of 400 million yuan ($64.4 million) from mushroom planting in 2013.
In order to enhance the quality of the mushrooms and increase their added value, the county is now considering establishing an industry park equipped with modern facilities. The industry will include several functions such as growing, processing, marketing and selling
In addition, the county may enlarge the industry park to cover various villages in the county if the revenue turns out to be better than expected.
