Ye Linqiu named one of top ten people who have touched Mindong

Ye Linqiu, a country doctor in Pingnan, has been named one of the top ten people who have touched Mindong residents.

Ye, 67, began practicing medicine at 24, and has been focusing on rural healthcare for 43 years. He often travels to nearby villages to treat residents in their homes – at no extra cost, and said that the gratitude of the villagers means very much to him. Ye has witnessed how people in rural areas often delay seeking treatment due to ignorance about various diseases and other factors - such as a backward transportation system - and he considers his 24/7 on call service with house calls for emergencies as an opportunity to increase the villagers’ awareness of healthcare issues.

Ye was recognized in 2009 – at the provincial level and also at the national level - for his services as a rural doctor, and he intends to continue working as long as he can.
