Wu Xifang, a resident recognized as a birth control family in Beiqi village, Pingnan County, received an invoice for free personal accident insurance on June 24.
Due to financial difficulties, many birth control families in Pingnan cannot afford insurance. The government offered free insurance for 2,000 such families. The insurance would remain valid from Jan 1 to Sept 30 every year. Only birth control families (those with one child or two daughters) can be insured.
Each family's premium per year is 50 yuan. 30 yuan comes from the Pingnan government, 10 yuan from the Care Fund for Childbearing and 10 yuan from the family itself. The insurance amount is worth 60,000 at a maximum payout.
