Liu advised the government to speed up the establishment of national production standards, including pricing and quality-grading, for the sector, and encourage related firms to join in the policy-making.
In a bid to advance quality supervision, she proposed the build-up of a management system, featuring traceability for the industry.
Brand building is also a key part in her proposal, saying government ought to offer more incentives to support the development of the tea products tailored to local conditions as well as ramp up more efforts to promotions overseas.
Other measure she mentioned include more involvement in international standards drafting, more collaboration between foreign and domestic certification authorities and leveraging of the existing networks such the Confucius institutes to push China's tea culture across the world.
