Modern agriculture development is sure to be a key driving force for Fujian to achieve rural vitalization, noted Yu Weiguo, Party chief of the Fujian CPC standing committee.
Yu, also head of the Fujian delegation to the 13th National People's Congress, made the remarks Tuesday when asked how the province will implement the country's rural vitalization strategy, during the ongoing legislative conference.
Yu pointed out that the province is set to follow the roadmap to rural vitalization drawn by President Xi Jinping during his tenure in Fujian.
President Xi attached great significance to the development in rural areas while working in Fujian, Yu said, and in light of its abundant natural resources, he proposed the important idea of speeding up characteristic modern agriculture development in the province. Fujian, for years, has been following that philosophy.
According to Yu, a modernized agro-system, highlighting the seven sectors including tea, fruits, vegetables and edible mushrooms, has taken shape in the province. Those seven sectors alone are expected to generate 1.5 trillion yuan ( $237.2 billion) in revenue by 2020.
Meanwhile, Fujian is also devoting great efforts to agro-product brand building, quality supervision and talent cultivation, he revealed.
