Northeast China's Jilin province is to offer further support for the development of China FAW Group Corporation, a major auto company based in the province, in order to boost regional economic growth, according to a forum held in Changchun, Jilin province, on June 7.
Established in 1953 and first put into production in 1956, FAW Group currently boasts five major production bases in Northeast China, North China, East China, South China, and Southwest China. A global R&D layout model of "four countries and ten places" has been established.
FAW Group owns independent brands such as Hongqi, Jiefang, and Bestune, and is part of joint ventures and cooperative brands with partners such as Volkswagen, Audi, Jetta, Toyota, and Mazda. Its sales volume ranks among the top in China's auto industry.
To further support FAW Group's development, Jilin is to promote the continuous optimization of the province's industrial structure and the continuous growth of the real economy, and boost the level of manufacturing development.
FAW in turn should keep up with the auto industry's development trends, with cars increasingly being electrified, connected, intelligent, and shared. It should also focus on key core technologies that restrict the high-quality development of automobiles, and strengthen cooperation with universities and institutions and key enterprises to tackle key problems.
In addition, the province will optimize its business environment, improve its services, coordinate the promotion of Changchun's growth into a world-class automobile city, and vigorously implement policies and measures to support the development of FAW Group.
