While most parts of China are embracing the warm sunshine and blossoming flowers of springtime, tourists at Xianfeng National Forest Park in Yanbian county, Jilin province, may see some wild sables in deep snow.
"Sables have been listed as first-class protected animals in China and are not easy to track," said Zhang Guizhi, a photographer from Songyuan. "When I got the news that there would be heavy snow on Saturday, I decided to capture images of the wild sables in the park."
"As far as I know, there are around 40 sables there," she said. "I was excited to find sables while driving through the park with some friends."
"We stayed in the park for the whole day and captured various images of sables. The images include sables running, climbing trees and just looking around," she said. "I felt lucky, even though I was chilled to the bone by the cold weather."
