Jilin sees 51.4% surge in foreign trade in January, February

Northeast China's Jilin province recorded a surge in the value of its foreign trade in the first two months of 2021 to 27.84 billion yuan ($4.28 billion), an increase of 51.4 percent year-on-year, according to a report in the Jilin Daily.

The growth rate of exports and imports in January and February was reportedly 19.2 percentage points higher than the national average.

Exports for the period came in at 5.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.8 percent, while imports totaled 22.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 58 percent.

The value of imports and exports ranked 23rd in the country, while the growth rate ranked 12th in the country and was the biggest in Northeast China.

Moving forwards, the province's commerce department will continue to vigorously implement policies, cultivate international markets, accelerate the integration of trade and industry and develop cross-border e-commerce -- to go all out to promote the steady growth of foreign trade.
