Sun Zhengyu, a senior professor at Jilin University, has set up an education and teaching reform fund, using his 1 million yuan ($153,800) Outstanding Teaching Award bonus, to support young teachers who have made outstanding contributions to the school's general education and to its education and teaching reform research.

The donation ceremony for the Jilin University Sun Zhengyu Education and Teaching Reform Award Fund was held on March 12 in Dingxin Building, Jilin University.

The ceremony marked the first Jilin University donation project to focus on education and teaching reform.

Sun Zhengyu is a well-known philosopher and educator in China and a senior professor of philosophy and social sciences at Jilin University.

In December 2020, Sun won the second National Outstanding Teaching Award. The award was established by the Ministry of Education in October 2019 to commend university teachers who have made outstanding achievements in talent training, have made outstanding contributions to the training of strategically urgently-needed talents in the country, and have an excellent global teaching influence.

Sun is the first person to win the Outstanding Teaching Award in the field of liberal arts education and teaching in China in the two sessions that have been carried out.
