The cities of Jilin and Meihekou in Northeast China's Jilin province have been selected as night economy demonstration pilot areas by the provincial department of commerce, according to local media reports.
The two cities are expected to explore promotion mechanisms and operation models, as well as public service and management methods for the development of the night economy.
They will combine the scale and characteristics of each city to create iconic night-time consumption areas and innovate and diversify their night-time business offer.
The two cities will carry out a variety of promotional activities, create a group of influential night-time consumption brands, and greatly enhance the prosperity and activity of the night economy, especially during the "golden season" of night consumption in summer and autumn.
Jilin and Meihekou will also accelerate the integration of online and offline consumption during the night, through means including online live-streaming.
Activities with distinctive themes such as opera, crosstalk, movies, music, and reading will be organized to boost night consumption.
