Promoting the coordinated development of Changchun city and Jilin city in Northeast China's Jilin province is among the major decisions made by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government.

Wang Desheng, a member of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has paid close attention to promoting the two cities' coordinated development. He put forward his suggestions after conducting an in-depth investigation.

Wang said it is essential to build the four regional nodes of Jiutai, Shuangyang, Chaluhe and Kouqian, and promote Jiutai district and the Sino-Singapore Jilin Food Zone (SSJFZ) to develop as leading areas for the coordinated development of urban and rural industries. It is also necessary to cultivate and create characteristic towns and build a new pattern of urban and rural integrated development for the two cities.

And it is vital to promote the integration and coordinated development of the two cities' transportation networks, Wang added.

He proposed transforming the Changchun-Jilin intercity railway into a high-speed railway to create a 30-minute traffic circle, economic circle and life circle.

Wang also suggested promoting the integration of the two cities' industrial development.
