Wang Yonggang, leader of the third team of medical workers from Northeast China's Jilin province -- which dispatched to the South Pacific island nation of Samoa -- completed his medical aid mission and on Nov 24 returned to the province's capital of Changchun.

He was the last member of the team to come back, the others having returned in August.

Jilin province's medical assistance missions to Samoa last two years and medics from four hospitals share the task. Each team assists in Samoa for six months.

The third team arrived in Samoa in August last year and members were supposed to return in early February this year, but due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that was postponed and they stayed on to help the locals fight the virus.

The next medical team could not get to Samoa due to suspended flights, so Wang decided to serve longer.
