Huge investment project to break ground in Changchun
A 30.8 billion yuan ($4.69 billion) science and education city project was given authorization on Nov 15 to settle in the China-South Korea (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province.
Two enterprises will cooperate with the demonstration zone to build an international complex. It will integrate commerce, culture and sports, medical and health facilities. Moreover, it will cater for tourism, residential housing and also have international kindergartens and primary and high schools.
It will also have a Northeast Asian optoelectronic technology research institute and a sci-tech center for innovation technology incubators will also be built.
The first phase of the project will take the lead in the construction of a Northeast Asian optoelectronic technology research institute, with a total investment of 400 million yuan.
The research facility will integrate basic application research and high-end application R&D. It will also help commercialize breakthroughs and conduct personnel training in the field of optoelectronic semiconductor materials and equipment manufacturing.
In addition, it is expected to promote the wider intelligent transformation of photoelectric enterprises in Changchun. The city will become an intelligent manufacturing zone for optoelectronic semiconductors with international competitiveness, supporting the development of Changchun's photoelectric industry and promoting its technological innovation.
In the future, China-South Korea (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone will build 100 key laboratories or R&D centers for healthy food, intelligent manufacturing, biotechnology, optoelectronic and information technology, as well as for the modern service industries.
