Forum on Changchun, Jilin coordinated development convened

The Changchun-Jilin Coordinated Development Forum, which was held on Sept 28 in Jilin -- the city in Northeast China's of Jilin province -- aimed to build a new development pattern to promote the overall revitalization of Northeast China, according to local media reports.
At the forum, over 10 experts and scholars put forward feasible opinions and suggestions on the coordinated development and integration of the cities of Jilin and Changchun, the latter being the capital of the province.
The experts and academics were from relevant national departments, scientific research institutions and universities.
They discussed the relationship between the construction of metropolitan areas, the revitalization of Northeast China, recruitment of talent and the coordinated development of the integration of Changchun and Jilin.
Representatives from Changchun's authorities also gave a briefing on the progress in the integration and coordinated development of the two metropolises.
Changchun and Jilin are the first and second largest cities in the province in terms of comprehensive strength ranking.
The area under the jurisdiction of the two cities accounts for about 30 percent of the province, their population accounts for about 50 percent of the province and the regional GDP accounts for more than 60 percent of the province.
Both cities play an important role in the economic and social development of the province.
Promoting the integrated and coordinated development of Changchun and Jilin is a major decision taken by the provincial government, based on their current new development stage.
It is also an important measure to further optimize the regional development layout and industrial space layout of the province and to connect and support national strategies.
In recent years, the two cities have attached great importance to their integrated and coordinated development, signed strategic cooperation agreements, jointly launched a series of practical measures and implemented a number of major projects together.
