A series of colorful activities called "Saluting the Classics" was launched on Aug 22 in Changchun, the capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province -- paving the way for the upcoming 15th China Changchun Film Festival, according to local media reports.

As one of the five events during this year's film festival -- which will be held on Sept 5 to 10 -- the series of activities for "Saluting the Classics" including film themed forum, "the night of Changchun film festival" evening gala and a film music session.

According to organizers, a number of film music concerts -- part of the "Saluting the Classics" series -- will be held until Sept 8.

The concert series includes a number of symphony orchestra concerts, featuring different styles and types of music -- ranging from Chinese and foreign classical film and television music, Oscar film music, animation film music and other symphony works.

After the official opening of the film festival, activities such as a themed forum and evening gala will be held, the organizers added.
