To mitigate the high winds and heavy rain brought by Bavi -- the eight typhoon of this year -- the railway authority in Northeast China's Jilin province has established an emergency response team to provide on-site guidance at the province's cities of Tonghua, Meihekou and Tumen.

According to local media reports, Jilin railway authority has required the flood prevention preparations of each train be checked. All trains conductors have been asked to check emergency food reserves, medicines and emergency spare parts.

When a train passes through key areas, the conductors will also asked to report the train's operational status, the number of passengers and the food reserve situation to a dispatch center.

In the event of heavy rain, strong winds and parking on the way, conductors have been asked to immediately send out advisory information, help old and the young exit the train and carry out safety measures efficiently, so as to ensure the safety of passengers.
