Northeast China’s Jilin province recently issued and began implementing a quality standards improvement plan to boost the province’s high-quality development in 2020-2022, local officials said.

They told a news conference in Changchun, the capital city of the province, on July 30 that the goal is to improve standards and high-quality development in 10 key areas.

The areas include agricultural products, the manufacturing industry, consumer goods, food, drugs, export products, small and medium-sized enterprises, the services industry, construction engineering and the environment.

Officials added that, the plan has five parts, dividing 21 key tasks into 121 specific objectives and tasks and clarifying the division of responsibilities.

Jilin plans to establish a new standards system covering all fields in the economy and society.

It will use international standards as a benchmark. It will also refer to national standards, industry standards, local standards and corporate standards, among others.

Officials said that in addition, the province will aim to be a National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) highland in Northeast China.

They said it will also aim to create a public service platform integrating quality inspections and testing, standards technology, measurements and testing, product certification and personnel training -- so as to accelerate the improvement in infrastructure construction levels in the province.
