The launch ceremony for the 2020 Jilin Songhua River summer and leisure tourism season -- as well as for a series of cultural and tourism events -- took place in Jilin city in Northeast China’s Jilin province on July 31, with the proceedings live broadcast on online cloud platforms, local officials said.

Sponsored by Jilin municipal government and the Jilin Province Department of Culture and Tourism, the ceremony was witnessed by tourism industry leaders and representatives from nearly 30 media and online travel agency platforms in China, as well as provincial and municipal officials -- the event aiming to help the recovery of Jilin’s cultural tourism market.

According to local officials, the Songhua River summer and leisure tourism season starts in July and ends in October.

They said the series of activities will be used by the industry to tap into hot spots -- stimulating spending and reactivating the cultural tourism market.

At the ceremony, Jilin city released 10 top routes for summer leisure self-drive tours.

Officials added that this year’s summer tourism season will take place both at physical locations, as well as online.

Jilin city has invited a cultural tourism consumer experience group to tour the city to help promote local cultural tourism online.

The city has planned 13 main activities during the season, officials said. At the same time, counties, districts and scenic spots will also stage a series of activities, all of which will also be presented online via mainstream media platforms, enhancing the popularity of Jilin city’s Songhua River summer tourism and leisure season.
