Jilin governor: Baishan should expand its green development
Jing Junhai, governor of Northeast China’s Jilin province, attended a discussion with the delegation from Baishan city, on Jan 13, where he advocated that the city go green.
The discussion was part of the third session of the 13th Jilin Provincial People's Congress, which opened in Changchun on the previous day.
During the meeting, Jing said that Baishan city should promote its industrial transformation and upgrade -- but he added that it should put a significant focus on its green development.
Changbai Mountain is located in Baishan city, which places a responsibility on the city to properly handle the balance human needs and mountain, water, forests, lands, lakes and grasslands.
The governor said the city should accelerate its transformation in tradition coal, forestry and iron industries -- and develop industries in new materials, green food, healthcare and medicine, culture and tourism, as well as modern services.
Relying on the natural resources of Changbai Mountain, the city should also develop its winter tourism and ecological tourism, Jing added.
