Jilin partners with State Council center on winter economy
A key meeting on the future of the country’s ice and snow economy was held at the Development Research Center of the State Council in Beijing, on Nov 23, according to officials.
During the meeting, the DRC’s economic research institute signed a cooperation agreement with the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, to jointly build a national ice and snow economy research center.
Dignitaries from the DRC and the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism attended the meeting.
Yu Bin, director of the general office of the DRC, welcomed the delegation from Jilin and said that ice and snow industry was the new method of revitalization in northeastern China.
Jilin province has advantage in the sector, and Yu hoped that Jilin would give play to that advantage and develop the ice and snow economy.
Yang Andi, director of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, gave a briefing on Jilin’s current development concerning the sector.
Yang said special the focus in particular was on the areas of winter sports equipment manufacturing, winter transportation, ice and snow sports education and general training and personnel training.
Yang said that the province is seeking the integrative development of culture and tourism and has been seeking cooperation with ice and snow countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
According to the cooperation accord, the ice and snow economy research center will issue an annual report on the development progress made in China’s ice and snow economy and will conduct research on the sector.
