Hongqi sedan aims to be top Chinese brand

Hongqi sedan, established in 1958 as a car brand of First Automotive Works Group Co Ltd (FAW), China’s first automotive manufacture, is experiencing a period of revitalization after setting itself a new goal to build itself into a "new noble brand". It aims to be nothing less than the best in China and famous all around the world.

To keep up with the latest market trends and demands, Hongqi will launch several new models in 2019. And by the end of 2025, the number of new models launched onto market will reach 25.

The Hongqi HS5 and HS7, both SUVs, are among the first batch of automobiles that will be launched this year.

Indeed, the HS5 is the first high-end medium-sized SUV of the Hongqi brand. It includes Hongqi’s traditional “straight waterfall type” front grille design, as well as more modern elements.

The HS7, the first full-sized SUV model of the Hongqi brand, will be powered by a self-developed direct injection engine rated at 248kW with peak torque of 445 N·m. The engine is a real achievement of research and development, manufacturing, and supplier management of domestic C-class SUVs; and represents the highest R&D level of a Chinese-made SUV product line.
