Li calls for transport health measures
Li Shouchun, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Jilin Committee medical and health group, has called for new measures to help prevent the transmission of diseases by rail users in Changchun.
He noted that by the end of 2024, the city will have built 10 rail transit lines with more than 200 stations, transporting over 100,000 passengers each day.
The health and safety of rail users, particularly the prevention and transmission of diseases, has become a top public concern in recent years.
Due to the relatively closed space of underground stations and carriages, bacteria are more likely to be communicated between people, Li said.
He went on to suggest improvements to the transport system, including increased monitoring, ventilation and a public information campaign to educate rail users about protecting themselves.
