The 2019 Changbai Mountain Powder Snow Festival commenced in Chibei area of Changbai Mountain on Dec 26.

Co-hosted by the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Jilin Municipal Government and the Changbai Mountains Protection and Development Management Committee, the festival will last for six months until April 2019.

A total of 20 snow-themed activities will be held throughout the event, including the 2019 Changbai Mountain International Mobile Photography Competition (Jan), the 2019 China Ice and Snow Car Rally Championship (Feb), the 1st International Tianchi Waterfall Climbing Contest (Mar), and the 2019 Changbai Mountain International Marathon (Apr).

Changbai Mountain boasts a long snow season every year, with large amount and excellent quality of snow. Its so-called "powder snow" is believed to be the most suitable for snow sports.
