Jilin is about to cause a sensation in Mongolia as a weeklong cultural event featuring the northeastern province commenced in Ulan Bator on Sept 22.

The opening ceremony of the 2018 Jilin Culture Tourism Week drew hundreds of spectators to the capital city's Central Cultural Palace, where Chinese performers offered a performance of traditional Chinese music symphony.

A series of cultural activities will be rolled out at the Chinese Culture Center through the cultural week, including an intangible cultural heritage exhibition featuring tradition Jilin crafts such as fish skin painting, cloth paste painting and paper cutting.

The event is organized by the China International Culture Association, the Jilin provincial government, the Chinese embassy in Mongolia, the Mongolian Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism as well as the Ulan Bator municipal government.

Initiated in 2011, Jilin Culture Tourism Week aims to reflect the characteristics of Jilin culture. It has also traveled to Russia, South Korea, the United States, Canada, Germany, France and other countries.
