The 2018 Tumen River Cultural Tourism Festival kicked off in Tumen city in the Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture on Aug 24.

Themed "The River of life, The Gateway to Hope", the five-day event highlights the distinctive local culture of the city and aims to promote Tumen as a beautiful and hospitable tourist-friendly destination.

Five categories of activities, including a bullfighting festival, concerts and exhibitions, present many cultural options for visitors to choose from during the event. The beautiful dances and songs staged at the opening ceremony held in Tumen River Square attracted thousands of live audience members.

Besides the colorful performances, there are several exhibitions featuring local specialties and intangible cultural heritages on offer. Activities such as camping and hiking will also be made available before the end of this month.
