Bayin Chaolu, secretary of Jilin Province, was present at the Baicheng City and Yanbian City’s review sessions on Jan 18 in Jilin.
He stressed the importance of the poverty alleviation plan, and said Jilin will continue to lift all of its poor out of poverty by its promised deadline.
Poverty alleviation is a difficult task for Jilin, driven by the goal of building an all-round, comfortably prosperous society, where rural poverty is the weakest link.
"Poverty relief is high on Jilin's agenda, particularly in the past year, which was the start of the 13th five years plan," Bayin explained. "Our measures have continued to help lift people out of poverty."
Bayin added that Jilin will take more precise, targeted and differentiated measures to ensure effective poverty relief in the upcoming year, noting that "As the focus area of the Western eco-economic region, Baicheng, and its poorer areas in particular, should and will be encouraged to expand their potential through eco-agriculture and new industries," such as tourism and e-commerce.
He said to the Baicheng City delegation.
Ma Junqing, Zhuang Yan, Fang Li, Li Longxi, Hu Jiafu and Li Jinxiu also attended the session.
