Snow haunts river town in NE China
Heavy snowfall in Jilin led to traffic jams and other transport inconveniences on Nov 5.

The local meteorological station issued a yellow alert for icy roads, reminding local people of keeping safe while driving.

Despite the headaches, the early snowfall did transform the city of Jilin — often called “river town” because of the limpid Songhua River that flows through its center — into an interesting, almost magical place.
