Farmers in Northeast China's Jilin province are gearing up for a busy time the rice harvest quickly approaches.

Jilin's natural environment is one of the best in China for growing grain crops. It has fertile black soil and abundant water resources. And the province has a great number of medium and low-output farmlands, which can provide much higher yields after some improvements.

As grain production is a pillar of Jilin’s economy, the provincial government has made efforts to brand all of its rice products under one overarching name of "Jilin Rice" in order to expand its market share. And this year, it comes up with a campaign slogan of "nutritious, green, and tasty," with the hope of appealing to more Chinese consumers.
