The 1920s French restaurant Jaan has styled a delightful three-course Mother's Day lunch for the May 10 celebration, with the Writers Bar offering an alternative sublime treat of traditional afternoon tea. With majestic French windows overlooking Chang'an Avenue, 1920s glamour oozes at Jann, with its original timber-sprung dance floor and sparkling Austrian crystal chandeliers and antique four-poster lounges - reminders of the days it was a prominent rendezvous for Chinese and foreign dignitaries. The Mother's Day set-lunch will be served from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on Sunday, priced at 228 yuan ($37). Afternoon tea is priced at 328 yuan for two, and an extra 188 yuan to add a celebratory glass of Billecart Salmon Brut Champagne.

To celebrate Le French GourMay, the restaurants Pierre and Cafe Causette at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, will be offering a series of special French menus that highlight ingredients from the Midi-Pyrenees region throughout the month. Legendary chef Pierre Gagnaire has created a four-course and a six-course tasting menu in his two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Pierre, perched on the 25th floor of the hotel. The menus highlight seasonal ingredients paired with wines from the region. Key dishes include velvety duck foie gras soup with Madiran wine cubes, and shoulder of lamb from Quercy stuffed with dried fruits (pictured). The Pierre set menus will cost HK$1,488 (plus service charge) for six courses and HK$ 998 for four courses, The hotel's all-day-dining restaurant, Cafe Causette, will also be offering a "pop-up" bistro from Midi-Pyrenees during the month.
