Got cookies?

The Hutong culture center in Beijing will host its annual charity bake-off to indulge Beijing's most indulgent cookie monsters, showcase some of Beijing's best bakers, and support a local community charity. Competitors eager to present their favorite cookie creations should submit one recipe to The Hutong (e-mail: Kristen@lumdimsum.com) by Feb 9, ideally with a one-sentence explanation of why it's awesome and a photo of the finished cookie.

The Hutong will pick 20 recipes to compete in its March 14 Cookie Monster Bake-Off. Selected contestants must provide enough small cookie bite samples to go around (for about 50 people). All will also be allowed to sell their own cookies (each bag of five cookies for 20 yuan, of which 5 yuan will be donated to a select charity). For cookie fans who just want to come and snack, the entrance price is 150 yuan (which includes sample bites of all 20 cookies plus one drink). The Hutong will also be selling and serving up some hot drinks: Warm milk (that's what the Cookie Monster likes to dunk his cookies into), hot chocolate, chai tea, mulled wine and hot toddies.

Contest entry deadline Feb 9; event March 14, 2-5 pm, The Hutong, 1 Jiu Dao Wan Zhong Xiang Hutong, Dongcheng district, Beijing; thehutong.com. 15901046127.
