I am against a United States of the World (USW)

Hi, bchung
you are quite a writer with 310 contributions to China Daily Forums, and you are only 18 years old.
Shall I believe you, when you state to have read only 5 (five) books ?
I rather think that you like to tease and provoke the elder Forumites and are seeking answers you could not find elsewhere or with your own means.
But after all, your new question is not a bad one. At least one, I ask myself.
After having been very much in favor of a Europe without borders and of globalisation, I came radically back on this position, not the least because of the destruction, or the refusal of support of the UN system by the United States of America.
A world without borders would be a United States of the World (USW), very much like the United States of America, where minorities can exist, freely grouped together or dispersed, but without the special constitutional guaranties for the differences which are dear to them and which they enjoy in their present national home states.
There would be no bordered shelter anymore for differing national behavior, differing law, culture, minority treatment, races, religion languages etc. under a system like the Bushies are building up. Differing behavior between people would loose in a USW all bordered statehood, which is and remains the sole real defense line for the forseeable future..
The small nations in this world -especially the European ones- have no other choice than to reevaluate their borders, to protect their differences from others. Reevaluation of the borders means not at all, to close them. We have them widely opened in Europe and this trend will go on and should so. The borders will only signal that there might be other rules, than in the friendly state next door. I think we have learnt and accepted this in Europe.
Yours grandfatherly Montblanc
