The late Chinese writer Ba Jin's last novel "Cold Night" is headed for the TV screen for the one year anniversary of Ba Jin's death.
The investor for this TV drama is planning a budget of 20 million RMB.
Veteran actor Chen Daoming and Rene Liu are possible candidates for the lead actors.
The novel had been adapted to film twice before, once in 1955 and then again in 1980s, neither of which Ba Jin was satisfied.
For this TV drama script, the producers have invited academic groups and other celebratedscreenwritersto join in the cast. The final script is due at the end of this year.
The brother of Ba Jin, Li Jisheng, also proposed that the era and details of the story should be taken thoroughly researched.
The drama will be start to shooting next April.
