In the women's event, Thailand's Wandee Kameaim, an Athens Olympics bronze medallist, put the pressure on Gu with a clean and jerk world record of 135 kilograms on her third lift, two kilograms better than the previous mark by China's Sun Caiyan in Izmir in June 2002.
