The listing is the latest achievement in the district's tourist development.

By placing equal importance on protecting historical relics, ecological improvement and economic development, the district government has started to revive the century-old village of Sanhe.

In the village, nearly 3 kilometers of ancient pathways were recovered along a 2.6km ancient water channel. A centuryold stone bridge was also renovated and 600 willow trees were planted.

Tree-flanked roads made with traditional grey bricks and cobblestones were built to improve the village's ecological environment.

The district government guided Sanhe Qiaolong Agricultural Company to build an ecological garden for sightseeing and tours for holidaymakers. 

The 80-hectare garden has more than 60 kinds of vegetables.

According to the districts tourism department, Sanhe welcomed more than 30,000 tourists during the National Day holiday in October and occupancy levels in local village inns reached 98 percent.

Sanhe village is a microcosm of the district's tourism development.

In recent years, the district upgraded its tourism industry through reasonable planning and integration of tourist resources. 

It established a tourism system that features a suburban recreational circle and a tourist route.

The circle includes  the Dragon Lady scenic area, an ecofarm vacation village, MoonShaped Mountain Park, Xianling hot springs and 50 leisure villages.

The route links up scenic spots  such  as  the  Dragon Lady scenic area, the Yidi Mausoleum,  the Xiaobu ancient village, the Yuefeng Yao ethnic village, the Yangtian Lake and alpine meadows.

After the replanning and additional construction the Dragon Lady scenic area, along with a series of historical attractions, was recognized as a national 4A-level tourist spot.

The local government hopes to turn the area into a firstclass comprehensive vacation site for sightseeing, hot springs, health and fitness, religious travel and outdoor training, according to Yin Hailian, director of the citys publicity department.
